Branding And Public Pages
Use these settings for what visitors see. Review the public community page after every change; these controls can affect discovery and the information made available without sign-in.
Branding
Settings > Branding requires admin:manage-branding.
| Control | Prerequisite | Result | Risk / recovery |
|---|---|---|---|
| Colour picker | A valid colour selection | Saves the community colour immediately and reloads C2. | Clear colour removes the custom value and restores C2’s default (#2563EB). |
| Change under Logo | A successfully uploaded image ID | Replaces the logo. | Clear image removes the current logo. Use a square source so it is not unexpectedly cropped. |
| Change under Banner | A successfully uploaded image ID | Replaces the banner. | Clear image removes it. C2 previews it in a wide 1.91:1 frame. |
| Change under Background | A successfully uploaded image ID | Replaces the background. | Clear image removes it. C2 previews it in a 16:9 frame. |
Each change is a separate save. While one is saving, other branding changes are disabled. If an upload finishes but no image is applied, retry the affected upload rather than repeatedly changing a different field. The API accepts only the named branding fields; an explicit cleared value removes that field, while omitted fields remain unchanged.
Public pages
Settings > Public pages requires admin:manage-community.
Configure the layout
Use the Layout editor to arrange public-page sections, then save the layout through that editor. Layout saving is separate from the access switches below. Keep a screenshot or written order before a larger rearrangement so you can restore it if the public page becomes harder to navigate.
Control public access
| Switch | What it exposes when enabled | API/public condition | Risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ranks | Community ranks. | community_ranks public-access switch and community_ranks feature. | Makes rank structure available to visitors. |
| Roster | Community roster. | community_roster public-access switch and community_roster feature. | Makes roster structure available to visitors. |
| Upcoming events | Upcoming public events. | community_calendar public-access switch. | Makes future event information available to visitors. |
Turn one switch on or off and wait for the success message before changing another. Disabling access does not remove the section from the saved layout: visitors receive an unavailable result until it is enabled again. A switch can show a default-on/default-off badge; that is its initial default, not proof of its current saved state.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Branding change is rejected | Invalid input, no signed-in session, missing admin:manage-branding, or unknown community. | Check the field and active C2 profile; preserve the error text for support. |
| Public-access list will not load or save | Missing admin:manage-community, no active community, or API error. | Do not assume the visual switch changed; reload the page and confirm public behaviour. |
| A public section remains unavailable | Access is off or its related feature is not available. | Check the switch, then the feature/plan status with an owner. |
