Social, Albums, And Media Uploads
Social settings determine how C2 prepares prompts, albums, highlights, and profile announcements. Album and post pages are where staff curate that output.
Social settings
Open Settings > Social. Reading and saving settings requires community-socials:manage-settings. Configure Discord first if you want to select live channels or roles; C2 loads those choices from the linked Discord guild.
| Control | Result | Risk / prerequisite |
|---|---|---|
| Upload prompt channel | Sets the Discord channel used for upload prompts. | Choose No upload prompt channel to clear it. A selected channel must still exist in the linked guild. |
| Upload prompt ping role | Sets an optional role to mention in upload prompts. | Choose No ping role to clear it. The role must still exist in the linked guild. |
| Distribution channel | Sets the Discord channel for social distribution. | Choose No distribution channel to clear it. |
| Auto-create albums | Creates albums when published event or campaign-event content is created. | Can create more albums than manual curation; enable only when staff have a review process. |
| Auto-publish highlights | Publishes composed highlights immediately. | Removes a manual review step. Test with a small album first. |
| Prompt delay | Sets delay in minutes before a prompt. | Minimum 0; a short delay can notify people before material is ready. |
| Submission window | Sets how long uploads remain open in minutes. | Minimum 1; closing early prevents token uploads. |
| Highlight asset limit | Sets the default number of assets used for highlights. | Minimum 1; a low limit can omit good material. |
| Promotions, Qualifications, Awards | Creates social posts for the corresponding profile updates. | These announcements are public-facing feed activity; enable only with member expectations in place. |
| Save social settings | Saves every setting on the page together. | Reload target lists before saving if Discord changed; the API rejects a selected channel/role not found in the linked guild. |
Albums and posts
Opening Albums and Posts uses the C2 page guard community:view. It does not by itself grant editing authority.
| Control / action | Permission or condition | Result / risk |
|---|---|---|
| Create album | community-albums:create | Creates an album; the button is hidden without it. |
| Album search/status filters | community:view | Filters the current list by text and OPEN, CLOSED, or ARCHIVED; it does not alter album status. |
| Album edits | community-albums:update | Changes album configuration. Review any status change because a closed album rejects token uploads. |
| Add/edit/delete an album asset | community-album-assets:create, :update, or :delete | Curates media. Deletion is destructive; confirm the asset is not needed by a post first. |
| Create/edit a post | Route guard is community:view; action-level enforcement is not evident in the scanned page source. | Draft/publish controls need live-role verification before assigning staff access. |
The C2 post detail page always displays an Edit button for a user who can open the page. Verify the API’s action-level rule with a least-privileged account before relying on that UI condition.
Workflow: Turn An Album Into A Post
Use an album as the review and selection stage; use a post as the finished public recap. The post composer takes only the album images that have a Highlight rank—unranked images stay in the album and are not attached to the composed highlight.
1. Prepare The Album
- Open Albums, then open the relevant album.
- Use Add images or the Upload to this album panel to attach images. This needs
community-album-assets:createand the album must be OPEN. - Open an image in the gallery. In its review panel, enter a number in Highlight rank and select Save rank.
- Repeat for every image you want in the highlight. Rank
1is displayed first; C2 sorts ranked images before unranked images. - Optionally select Set as cover for the image that should represent the album. This changes the album cover, not the post attachment order.
- Use Remove asset only for media you intend to take out of the album. Removed images do not appear in composed highlights.
Updating a rank requires community-album-assets:update; removing an image requires community-album-assets:delete. The Set as cover control updates the album and needs community-albums:update.
Before you compose: check the gallery summary. It shows both the total image count and how many images are ranked. The compose controls stay unavailable until at least one image has a rank.
2. Create The Highlight Post
- In Album actions, select Compose highlight draft or Compose and publish. Both open the highlight composer with the currently ranked images attached.
- Check the Ranked assets count. If it is wrong, cancel, correct the image ranks, and reopen the composer.
- Enter a Post title and Post description. The album name and description are used as starting values where available.
- Select Create draft to save without publishing, or Create and publish to publish immediately.
The album action buttons require community-albums:create in the current C2 UI. The final publish action is a public-facing change: review the attached images and copy before selecting it. A post composed from an album remains linked to it and appears in the album’s Linked posts panel.
3. Publish A Saved Album Draft
In the album’s Linked posts panel, a draft shows Publish post. That control is shown to staff with admin:manage-community or admin:manage-discord. Once published, the panel shows publication status, impressions, likes, comments, and any distribution records.
The Posts Page
Open Posts to see all community posts in date groups. Each card shows its status, linked album (where present), image grid, title, description, content preview, and impressions, likes, and comments.
Create A Standalone Post
- Select Create post.
- Add a Title, Summary, and optional formatted Content.
- Add image attachments in the attachment area. Use the remove button on an image to remove it before saving.
- Select Create draft to save it for review, or Publish to make it live now.
At least one of title, summary, content, or an attachment is required before either save action becomes available. C2 keeps attachment order in the order shown in the editor. The current page route only checks community:view; because post create/update enforcement is not represented in the album permission catalogue, test the intended staff role before giving it publishing responsibility.
Review Or Edit A Post
- Select a post card to open the post detail page.
- Read the status and engagement counts before changing it.
- Select Edit to open the editor, then change the text or attachments.
- Select Save to retain it as a draft, or Publish to publish the saved version.
Removing an attachment from a post changes that post only; it does not remove the original image from its album. Conversely, removing an album image is destructive to the album and can affect later highlight composition—check linked posts first.
Token upload page
/upload is a separate, token-based page rather than a staff permission route.
- Open the supplied upload link containing its
tokenquery parameter. - Confirm the community, related event/campaign event or album, and expiry shown by C2.
- Add one or more images and select the submit action.
- C2 creates assets with Pending review status; they are not automatically approved by the upload itself.
The token must be valid and the album must be OPEN. The API rejects a missing token, a closed album, or an empty image list. Do not share the link widely: it authorises uploads to the named album until it expires.
