C2 Overview

Navigation And Community Settings

Set up the community, manage branding and public pages, use social tools, create API clients, and understand analytics access.

This page covers the community-level areas outside roles, personnel, events, forms, and automation. Start with General and Branding; use integrations and public-facing tools only when the community has a clear need.

General Settings

Open Settings > General to update community details and operational visibility.

Access

The page requires Admin: manage community (admin:manage-community). Its social-settings link is only shown to people with community-socials:manage-settings.

What You Can Change

  • Community details: name, Discord link, and website.
  • Description: the text shown to prospective members and across community pages.
  • Hidden: removes the community from public discovery.
  • Paused: temporarily stops new application activity.
  • Display rank abbreviations: controls whether profile names include rank abbreviations in the community UI.
  • Custom domain: owner-only. Enter a full hostname such as portal.example.com, without https://, then select Save domain. Create a CNAME record for that hostname pointing to milsim.io; DNS changes can take up to 24 hours.
  • Referral code: select Copy code to copy it when one is available.

Each visibility switch saves immediately. Change only one at a time and wait for its loading indicator to finish.

Branding

Open Settings > Branding to control the community’s public identity.

Access

Requires Admin: manage branding (admin:manage-branding).

Workflow: Set Brand Assets

  1. In Logo, select Upload logo or Change image. A square logo works best.
  2. In Background, select Upload background. The UI recommends a 16:9 image.
  3. In Banner, select Upload banner. The UI recommends a 1.91:1 image for public pages and social cards.
  4. Use the Colour picker to set the primary colour. It saves immediately and refreshes the page.
  5. Use Remove image or Reset to default colour only when you intend to remove the current asset.

If an upload completes but C2 reports that no file ID was returned, do not retry by repeatedly changing other fields; retry that upload or contact support with the error text.

Public Pages

Open Settings > Public Pages to control public content and page layout.

Access

Requires admin:manage-community.

Workflow: Change Public Access

  1. Find Public access.
  2. Turn Ranks, Roster, or Upcoming events on or off.
  3. Wait for the success message confirming that the item’s visibility was updated.

Disabled sections remain in a saved layout but show an unavailable state until public access is enabled again. Review the public page after changes.

Layout

Use the Layout editor to arrange and configure public page sections. Save the layout when you finish; layout saving is separate from the three access switches.

Social Settings, Albums, And Posts

Settings > Social Settings controls social upload prompts, distribution choices, and related announcements. It needs community-socials:manage-settings.

Albums and Posts are available from Platform. Opening them requires community:view, but individual actions have narrower permissions:

ActionPermission
Create an albumcommunity-albums:create
Edit an albumcommunity-albums:update
Upload an album assetcommunity-album-assets:create
Edit an album assetcommunity-album-assets:update
Delete an album assetcommunity-album-assets:delete
Open the create/edit post pagescommunity:view (the C2 page guard)
Publish a draft from an albumadmin:manage-community or admin:manage-discord

If Create album, upload, edit, or publish controls do not appear, ask an owner for the exact permission shown above. Do not assume that community:view grants album-management rights.

API Integrations

Use Settings > API Integrations for bots, automations, or external applications that need community API access.

Access And Availability

  • Requires admin:manage-community.
  • Requires the community_api_access plan feature.

Workflow: Create A Client

  1. Open API Integrations and select Create client.
  2. Enter a clear Client name.
  3. Select one community role. Its permissions define what the client can access.
  4. Select Create client.
  5. Copy the Client ID and Client secret from Client credentials generated.
  6. Store the secret securely before closing the dialog; C2 states that it is shown once.

Use Delete on the integration list only after the client has been removed from every bot or external application. A deleted client will no longer authenticate those integrations.

Community Analytics

Open Analytics > Community Analytics to review applications, retention, ranks, unit slots, qualifications, awards, and activity over time.

Use Bucket, Start date, and End date to choose the reporting period. Select Reset to return to the default recent range. Reports can be empty when the selected period has no matching data.

The sidebar requires community-analytics:read for Community and Attendance Analytics. Vote Analytics also needs community-vote-analytics:read and the vote_analytics plan feature.

Account Menu

The profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar is personal to the signed-in user. It has Account, Profile, Billing, language choices, and Log out, plus Discord and Steam account linking. It does not change a community role or grant C2 permissions.
