Manage Profile Statuses
Profile Statuses is the catalogue behind the status badge on a person’s profile. It needs the community_profile_status feature and profile-statuses:read to open.
Controls and permissions
| Control | Permission | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Card / Table | profile-statuses:read | Changes only the list layout. |
| Create Profile Status | profile-statuses:create | Opens a form for name, colour, and the default switch. |
| Modify | profile-statuses:update | Changes a status’s name, colour, or default state. |
| Set Default | profile-statuses:update | Marks a non-default status as the default. |
| Delete | profile-statuses:delete | Opens a destructive delete confirmation. |
The form requires a name and a valid three- or six-character hex colour. C2 normalises the colour to an uppercase six-character value before saving.
Create or edit a status
- Open Profiles > Profile Statuses.
- Select Create Profile Status, or select Modify on an existing status.
- Enter a short Name and choose its Color.
- Turn on Default only when new profiles should receive this status.
- Submit the form.
The list refreshes after a successful save and sorts the default status first. Use short, operational names such as Active or On Leave; colour alone should not carry the meaning.
Change the default
Select Set Default on a non-default status. The action saves the selected status as default and refreshes the list. It does not change existing profiles in the C2 flow—review profiles separately if the team needs a bulk status change.
Delete a status
Select Delete, then complete the confirmation only after checking whether the status is assigned to any profiles. This is destructive; the screen has no restore action or reassignment wizard.
If the API rejects a create or edit (for example a plan limit, validation error, or unavailable status), C2 keeps the dialog open and shows the returned error. Correct that problem rather than creating a near-duplicate status.
Use statuses on a person
Managing the catalogue does not allow staff to set a person’s status. That separate action uses profiles:modify-statuses on the profile page. See Manage Profiles.
Verification notes
- C2 and the API both use the four
profile-statuses:*keys above for the catalogue’s standard CRUD routes. - The page shows a plan-limit error on create/edit when applicable; the exact plan limit is not embedded in the screen, so use the shown message or the community plan for the current limit.
